Gestalt Language Processing

Gestalt Language Processors (GLPs) learn language in whole phrases β€” often scripts from shows or favorite people β€” and gradually break them down into flexible single words.

What it looks like

  • Repeating long phrases with the original intonation
  • Using a movie line to mean a feeling ("To infinity and beyond!" when excited)
  • Echolalia that carries meaning

What helps

  • Acknowledge the message behind the script.
  • Model short, flexible phrases ("I want more", "all done").
  • Avoid drilling single words; honor the natural progression through stages.
